Re: Changing “Date Presentation” in
UNIFILE
Date: February 16, 2004
UNIFILE
is the configuration file that specifies the characteristics of your System,
Terminal and Printer to the RIMAS for DOS database. One parameter within the System section of this configuration
file must be changed to allow the entry, display and printing of dates with
4-digits years.
Immediately
after installing the RIMAS 3.4 update, you must perform the following steps.
1.
Begin
the process by opening an MS-DOS window if you are running any version of MS
Windows, or by returning to the prompt if running DOS itself. Then change to the directory containing your
RIMAS for DOS, Version 3.4 programs.
You may have to reference a different directory on your system, but the
default installation directory is “SLG”.
So you would type “CD \SLG” and press [Enter].
2.
Run
the UNIFILE configuration utility by typing “UNISETUP” and pressing
[Enter]. The following screen shows
this being entered in an MS-DOS window.

3. The following screen is
displayed. On this screen type “A”,
without pressing [Enter] to indicate that you want to change the System
Definition.

4. The program will then ask if
you want to use a different system. You
do not want to do this, so type “N” and press [Enter].

5. Now you see a list of System
Definition parameters that are part of UNIFILE. Since we are interested in controlling how dates are entered,
displayed and printed, type “D” without pressing [Enter].

6. There are two parameters
within the Date Presentation area. We
want to control the appearance of the year, so type “A” without pressing
[Enter].

7. We have arrived at the
specific value that we want to change.
Make the change by typing “B” without pressing [Enter].

8. The utility program will now
“back out” in much the same screen sequence in which we entered. Unless you are asked to “save” something,
simply press the [Esc] key to return to the previous screen. So, press [Esc] when the following screen is
redisplayed.

9. Also press [Esc] when the
following screen is re-displayed.

10. The following screen is the
first of two that you will enter as you exit UNISETUP that offers an
opportunity to save your configuration change.
Type “Y” and press [Enter] to save your System definition.

11. You are now back at the
original screen. Press [Esc].

12. The following screen offers
the second opportunity to save you change.
Enter “Y” and press [Enter].

The configuration change is complete. You may close your MS-DOS window.
