Re: Establishing a Serial Connection, including Modem

To use
ANZIO-Lite via a Communications Port, such as COM1 or COM2, proceed as follows:
1.
Start,
or install, ANZIO-Lite.
Click “Communicate” in the menu bar.
a.
Click
“Set Up” in the drop down list.
1)
Click
the radio button to the left of “Serial”.
2)
Click
on the port number to be connected to your (Unix) server.
3)
Click
the baud rate to be used. If a modem
will be used to dial a remote server, it is most common to set the baud rate to
9600.
4)
Click
the Data Bits/Parity choice that matches your host server, usually 8N.
5)
Click
OK to accept your choices.
2.
Establish
communications with your (Unix) server
a.
If
you are using a direct connection, press the [Enter] key to see the “login”
request (if it is not automatically displayed).
b.
If
you are using a modem connection, you must call the remote (Unix) server.
1)
Press
[Alt-D] to see the “Dial a Number” dialogue box.
2)
Type
the phone number of the remote (Unix) server’s modem in the “Number” field.
a)
The
entire number, including any required credit card number, must fit in this
window.
b)
Tone
or pulse dialing may have to be indicated by entering a “T” or a “P” as the
first character of the “number”.
4. Terminate the ANZIO-Lite window to terminate
the telephone connection.
