Re:           Establishing a Serial Connection, including Modem

To use ANZIO-Lite via a Communications Port, such as COM1 or COM2, proceed as follows:

1.      Start, or install, ANZIO-Lite.

Click “Communicate” in the menu bar.

a.      Click “Set Up” in the drop down list.

1)      Click the radio button to the left of “Serial”.

2)      Click on the port number to be connected to your (Unix) server.

3)      Click the baud rate to be used.  If a modem will be used to dial a remote server, it is most common to set the baud rate to 9600.

4)      Click the Data Bits/Parity choice that matches your host server, usually 8N.

5)      Click OK to accept your choices.

2.      Establish communications with your (Unix) server

a.      If you are using a direct connection, press the [Enter] key to see the “login” request (if it is not automatically displayed).

b.      If you are using a modem connection, you must call the remote (Unix) server.

1)      Press [Alt-D] to see the “Dial a Number” dialogue box.

2)      Type the phone number of the remote (Unix) server’s modem in the “Number” field.

a)      The entire number, including any required credit card number, must fit in this window.

b)      Tone or pulse dialing may have to be indicated by entering a “T” or a “P” as the first character of the “number”.

4.   Terminate the ANZIO-Lite window to terminate the telephone connection.
