Re: Posting to General Ledger

There are many Sources that can be used in the Update to Post program. In the steps below the General Ledger source is used as an example to show the sequence of events when posting in G/L:

1. Make an entry in the General Entry program.

2. This entry will appear in the General Register and Transaction History Register. The batch does not need to be closed to appear in these registers.

3. However, notice when working in the Update to Post program, the batch does not show up. This is because the batch will need to be closed before running Update to Post.

4. In the Update to Post program, click on the G/L Source and select the Batch. Leave the Batch field blank if all batches should post. Click OK to start the processing.

5. By using Update to Post, all entries in the selected batches will now appear in the Posting Register and Transaction History Register.

DO NOT RUN THE POST TO G/L PROGRAM WITHOUT FIRST EXAMINING THE POSTING REGISTER TO DETERMINE THAT ALL ENTRIES ARE CORRECT.

6. Use the Post to G/L program to finalize posting of all entries. Entries that were posted will now be visible only in the Transaction History Register.
